Appeals Policy

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Education Appeals Policy is to establish a fair and transparent process for individuals enrolled in courses offered by UK Learning Hub to appeal academic decisions, assessments, or other educational matters. This policy aims to ensure that appeals are handled in a timely and equitable manner.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all learners enrolled in UK Learning Hub courses who wish to appeal academic decisions, assessment results, or any other educational matters.

3. Grounds for Appeal

Learners may submit appeals on the following grounds:

a. Assessment and Examination Decisions: If a learner believes that there has been an error or unfairness in the assessment or examination process.

b. Grading Issues: If a learner believes that there has been a mistake in the grading of assignments, exams, or other assessments.

c. Misapplication of Policies: If a learner believes that policies or procedures have been misapplied or not followed.

d. Mitigating Circumstances: If a learner was unable to perform to the best of their ability due to documented mitigating circumstances that were not taken into account.

e. Procedural Irregularities: If a learner believes that there were procedural irregularities in the handling of their academic matters.

 

4. Procedure for Filing an Appeal

a. Submission: Learners must submit a written appeal to the Appeals Committee within 14 calendar days of the decision or event that is being appealed.

b. Content: The appeal should include a clear statement of the grounds for the appeal, any supporting documentation, and the desired outcome.

c. Appeals Committee: The Appeals Committee will be composed of impartial individuals not directly involved in the decision being appealed.

d. Review Process: The Appeals Committee will review the appeal and gather relevant information. The learner may be invited to provide additional information or attend a hearing.

 

5. Decision

a. Timely Response: The Appeals Committee will provide a written decision within 28 calendar days of receiving the appeal.

b. Possible Outcomes: The decision may affirm the original decision, modify the decision, or recommend further actions.

 

6. Finality of Decision

The decision of the Appeals Committee is final and binding. There is no further internal appeal process within UK Learning Hub.

 

7. Confidentiality

All information related to the appeal will be treated with confidentiality to the extent permitted by law.

8. Recordkeeping

Records of appeals and their outcomes will be maintained for a minimum of 3 years.

 

9. Review of Policy

This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure its effectiveness and may be revised as necessary.
